CXr – A new generation of Code furlers from Seldén

15 years ago, as a response to a growing demand for convenient headsail handling, Seldén broke new ground by introducing their CX and GX furlers for Code 0 and flying down wind sails.

The second generation of furlers, called CXr, is enhanced with several new features of which a patented ratchet design stands out.

The ratchet mechanism prevents the sail from unfurling unintentionally and must be unlocked to furl the sail out. To do this, make a short and distinct pull on the furling line in the same direction as the direction you want the drum to spin. Pull on the sheet and the drum will spin freely and let the sail out.

Furling a large top-down sail can be physically demanding, but with Seldén’s ratchet system, you can pause midway without any issues. The ratchet is strong enough to hold the load and resist the torque from the sail and it automatically works in both directions.

Another essential improvement is a springloaded captive pin to easily engage the swivels to the sail.

In addition to the CXr systems Seldén also introduces new accessories such as Tack Swivel Adaptors for Top-down furling, clew-boards and head-boards for cableless Code sails and a new range of terminals for AT-cables.

The World Premiere for the CXr series is METS, Amsterdam, November 18-20 (Stand no 01-775).
